Overcoming panic attacks – Anyone who has had a panic attack knows simply how big a problem they can be.  They can stop you enjoying life and in some cases keep you housebound and lonely.  Once you’ve got over your panic attacks you’ll be able to get on with your life.  Many sufferers of panic attacks only need to be able to live a normal life.

Here are some easy techniques that can help you to beat panic attacks and stop them from being so frequent.  When you begin to panic your breathing will necessarily speed up and become terribly shallow.  When you’re in a very relaxed state concentrate on your breathing and teach yourself to breathe deeply and evenly from the bottom of your stomach.  This kind of breathing desires to become second nature for you.

When you feel a panic attack starting up you have to instantly think about your breathing and start breathing in this deep and regular manner.  It often helps to sit down and close your eyes to allow yourself to focus on your breathing.  Often this is enough to get rid of your panic attack utterly and prevent it from happening.

After some practice this can become second nature to you and when you start to panic you will automatically breathe deeply and relax, which can quell the emotions of panic.  Initially, you may need to use a cue to remind you to breathe in this way, perhaps write it on your hand or tell the people around you to remind you.  You can cope better with panic attacks with relaxation techniques or self-hypnosis.  You can learn yoga or meditation or self-hypnosis to help you relax more.

Panic attacks happen for all kinds of various reasons.  These all create stress in you and stop you from thinking straight.  With these simple relaxation techniques, you will be in a position to prevent the stress and panic attacks from taking over.  When you understand what triggers a panic attack then you may be able to start out avoiding those situations.  For the triggers that you just cannot avoid you would like to vary how you feel about them.  You could use 1 of any variety of techniques, but a nice one is to visualize a relaxed and calm you just before you enter the situation.  Hold on to that feeling of relaxation and calmness as you experience the situation in your mind.

Your sub-conscious mind does not recognize the distinction between reality and imagination (just imagine one thing painful and you’ll realize this is true) so you will amend your feelings concerning these situations
Do this visualization enough and you will notice that the things that used to cause panic only make you be relaxed and calm.  This may be a little bit peculiar initially, but you’ll like it.

You will overcome panic attacks using the above techniques.  Be gentle on yourself and be patient and you’ll see a huge distinction in your levels of panic attacks.
